IMPACT DELIVERS FORKLIFT FLEET UPGRADE FOR COURIER LOGISTICS
Release date: 24 February 2016
Courier Logistics has added four gas-powered 2.5 tonne Cat® lift trucks to its materials handling fleet, supplied by Impact, the UK’s sole distributor of Cat® Lift Trucks.
The Rotherham-based logistics provider chose the GP25N machines for their reliability and to replace four older trucks as part of a fleet update. All four machines have been fitted with load weight indicators, keypad ignition systems and transmission protection systems which decreases tyre wear by preventing high speed direction changes and excessive acceleration.
The trucks will be used up to five and a half days each week loading and unloading deliveries at the company’s Rotherham site, which runs a 24-hour operation and processes up to 260 pallets each day.
Darren Button, Commercial Manager at Courier Logistics says: “Ahead of our fleet update we trialled a few different machines before settling on the Cat® lift trucks. What stood out for us was their durability, the optional equipment we could specify to protect them in the long term and the fact our drivers preferred them for their ergonomics and comfort.”
Commenting on specifying the trucks through Impact, he adds: “Impact has taken care of our materials handling fleet for more than four years and the level of service throughout has been fantastic. They’ve helped us specify the right fleet for our business and are ensuring we get the maximum value from every asset.”
Impact’s Doncaster team provide dedicated local support for Courier Logistics, carrying out proactive service and maintenance to keep the trucks in peak operating condition. A fully tailored support programme allows routine maintenance to be undertaken during quieter periods, plus Impact provides around-the-clock support in the event of an emergency.
“Operating up to 24 hours a day means that our forklifts have to be ready for action at any time of the day and Impact has impressed us with the support they’ve given to ensure that our trucks are up to the task,” he adds.
Courier Logistics was established in 1994 and offers distribution, logistics and storage services. The company is part of the APC Overnight and Pallet-Track networks and has a 17,000 square foot storage facility with a 1,500 pallet capacity.
