Stand 10H27, OS2, IMHX, NEC, Birmingham, 13-16 September 2016

Impact, the UK’s sole distributor for Cat® Lift Trucks, will now supply materials handling equipment produced by Spijkstaal – the first time the Dutch manufacturer’s trucks have been available in Britain.

Impact is celebrating the news by displaying one of the manufacturer’s Model 310 step tow tractors at IMHX – one of many specialist vehicles now available from the Rotterdam-headquartered manufacturer through its relationship with Impact.

Spijkstaal’s Model 310 has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000kg and a top speed of 17km/h.

The 48V tricycle tractor, which is powered by an asynchronous AC motor, was designed for manoeuvrability in warehouses and stockyards, thanks to its light weight and compact design.

A vehicle well-suited to the start-stop nature of order picking and goods distribution, thanks to its low boarding height of just 110mm, the Model 310 has found widespread use in the automotive manufacturing industry, as well as applications in floriculture, healthcare and aviation.

All Spijkstaal’s tow tractors feature independent suspension on all their wheels, for increased shock absorbance, while the range’s ergonomic battery storage allows quick replacement, reducing downtime.

Steel plates bolted to the front, rear and side of the tow tractors provide a strong, durable chassis, while hydraulic disk brakes help keep both operator and cargo safe – all of which adds up to a long-term low total cost of ownership.

Under the agreement, Impact will supply all of Spijkstaal’s products to the UK market – a range which features a wide selection of environmentally-friendly electric vehicles, including tow tractors with capacity to pull between 1 and 30 tonnes, and larger, highly-customisable ‘burden carriers’, which are frequently used in European cities by municipal service workers.
