International logistics provider McGregor Logistics has called on the support of Impact Handling to bolster its growing warehouse demand with a fleet of five new gas-powered Cat® lift trucks.

The new deliveries join three existing forklift trucks in service and include four robust GP25N 2.5 tonne gas-powered trucks and a larger GP30N 3 tonne gas-powered truck, each supplied on full service contract hire.

The new fleet will be used intensively, seven days a week, in McGregor Logistics’ 110,000 ft2 warehouse, as well as supporting the Palletways section of its business, where up to 200 pallets are received, scanned and distributed to postcode areas each day.

Fitted with weight indicators and idle shut down valves, the four GP25Ns have been specially adapted to optimise fleet efficiency. The trucks are also fitted with a TXP transmission protection system which can reduce tyre wear by up to 50 per cent, keeping operational costs to a minimum. Equally versatile is the GP30N, which has been fitted with a detachable clamp which can be replaced by a side-shift, allowing its time to be split between regular warehouse duties and demanding work unloading and loading trucks assigned to the Palletways pallet network.

Stuart Lyall, Warehouse Manager at McGregor Logistics says: “Our warehouse has become a 24/7 operation and is an integral part of our business. We now have eight times the racking capacity and 10 times the amount of pallets than we did 15 months ago so we needed a fleet that could cope with the increased demand.”

Impact Handling also worked closely with McGregor Logistics, helping to advise upon and specify a new racking design and layout for the warehouse, together with a gas bulk storage system for the new fleet of trucks, which are expected to deliver fuel savings of 20-25 per cent, thanks to the efficiency of the Cat machines.

“Impact Handling has provided us with a full materials handling solution that’s been tailored to keep up with our changing requirements, and which gives us the flexibility to be used in other areas of our business when needed,” he adds.

The robust GP25N forklift offers an excellent blend of power and performance with the advantage of low fuel consumption, making them easy and economical to use. Similarly, the GP30N’s proven, high powered and clean LPG engine provides the performance and torque necessary when required for use in demanding applications both indoors and outdoors.

Impact Handling has further bolstered the customer’s fleet with the supply of a pair of versatile Aisle-Master articulated trucks, complementing the new fleet of Cat lift trucks.

Established in 2004 with one vehicle distributing fruit for local markets, McGregor Logistics has grown from a small local haulage company to an international logistics provider.
