Bretts Transport has added three gas-powered forklift trucks supplied by Impact Handling to its materials handling fleet, in a bid to meet ambitious environmental targets.

The East Anglia-based company, which specialises in ambient deliveries to the retail, food service and food manufacturing sectors, chose the Cat Lift Trucks® GP25N machines as the powerful LPG engines are renowned for combining clean emissions with exceptional performance in demanding applications.

Steve Norris, Bretts Transport’s Warehouse Manager, says: “There has been a real push towards materials handling equipment which is greener and makes the warehouse environment cleaner. We have updated our fleet with the best and most modern machines available, which do a great job and help us to meet our environmental targets.”

The new trucks – which join Bretts Transport’s materials handling fleet of 24 machines – are being used for order picking in the company’s 165,000 sq ft warehouse and are worked 10 hours each day. The trucks are ideal for food-centric operations such as Bretts Transport, due to a three-way catalytic converter fitted as standard, which help filter the emissions, creating cleaner working environments.

Before adding the three new trucks, Bretts Transport had also specified five Cat machines from Impact Handling on a four year short-term hire contract.

“We were really impressed with how quickly Impact Handling provided the short-term hire trucks. The outstanding service we received was a key factor in choosing to work with Impact Handling when we were updating the fleet,” Norris adds.

Cat’s GP25N counterbalance trucks offer an excellent blend of power and performance to match their 2.5 tonne lifting capacity, with the advantage of low fuel consumption, making them easy and economical to use.

Ideal for warehouse applications, the trucks offer superior grip on sloped or slippery surfaces, and the pneumatic tyres fitted as standard provide excellent operator comfort.
