Dawson Materials Handling Equipment has been appointed as Impact Handling’s strategic dealer partner for Cat® Lift Trucks in Ireland.

The company will be responsible for sales and aftersales support across the full range of Cat® lift trucks, which includes engine-powered and electric counterbalance forklift trucks, pallet trucks, tow trucks, high and low-level order pickers and reach trucks.

Dawson Materials Handling Equipment’s parent company Belfast Materials Handling Ltd, has been an exclusive distributor of Cat lift trucks to customers in Northern Ireland for almost 15 years and Group Managing Director, Karl Dawson, saw a great opportunity for the business to expand into the Republic of Ireland.

Dawson says: “Our objectives; providing hands-on fleet management services and delivering industry leading products with well-structured support networks, have been the foundation of our company’s success. Those objectives combined with a significant amount of expertise in the materials handling sector have resulted in our continued growth even through the most difficult years in our industry.

“This only emphasises the strength of our company strategies, and natural progression dictates that we continually assess opportunities to develop the business further. With current operations commanding a well-established market share in Northern Ireland, focus falls naturally on Ireland and an already recovering market. Receiving approval to sell and support Cat lift trucks in a new territory is a major achievement, and Impact Handling has been an integral part of our planning and execution of this goal.”

Assessing the market opportunity, he adds: “Manufacturers’ data indicates that the Irish market is now improving, and with a new age of more efficient and attentive businesses emerging, our exclusive access to one of the strongest and most comprehensive materials handling ranges in the market will allow us to provide complete materials handling solutions combining excellent value, reliability and productivity.”

Dawson Materials Handling Equipment has initially appointed a 14-strong team to lead the new venture, with 10 dedicated mobile engineers equipped to support customers throughout Ireland. In addition to equipment sales, the company offers casual and contract rental, full service maintenance packages and comprehensive parts support from its local parts facility – also backed up by access to the full Cat Lift Trucks parts inventory on next morning service via Impact Handling’s dealer portal.

Impact Handling’s Managing Director, Terry Kendrew, says: “We recognise the huge opportunity for Cat Lift Trucks in Ireland, and we were keen to work with Dawson Materials Handling Equipment to ensure we have a strong team on the ground to support local businesses.

“We’re confident we have the right partner to provide the highest standards of service for Cat Lift Trucks customers in Ireland.”

Belfast Materials Handling began as a service based company in 1978 focused solely on offering maintenance and repair services until1995 when demand for provision of equipment  combined with service support had to be addressed. Since then, the family run business has built up its reputation to become a major provider of materials handling solutions to some of the country’s leading companies. In addition to the full range of Cat lift trucks range, it will provide a portfolio of complementary products from manufacturers including Aislemaster, AUSA, Combilift, Lancer Bulmor, Magaziner and Kalmar.
