IMPACT REVEALS NEW CARER HEAVY DUTY ELECTRIC FORKLIFT RANGE AT IMHX

Impact, the UK’s sole distributor for Cat® Lift Trucks, is marking its return to IMHX with the debut of a new 8-10 tonne Carer heavy duty electric forklift range.
Italian manufacturer Carer, for which Impact is also sole UK distributor, dispatched one of its new A80-900X electric trucks to IMHX – the first time the truck has been seen in the UK.
Designed to help companies cut their greenhouse gas emissions and lower running costs by switching to electric power, the new 8-10 tonne heavy-lift truck series – which is comprised of the A80-900X, A90X and A100X – is already garnering significant interest from UK industries, especially paper and packaging firms.
The Carer A80-900X on display at IMHX has a lifting capacity of 8,000kg at 900mm load centre, and is powered by a trio of highly-efficient electric motors – two 15 kW traction motors and a 52 kW pump motor.
The motors perform at speeds of up to 5,400 rpm with high torque, providing ground speed of up to 20km/h and lifting speeds up to 0.50m/sec.
Such power ensures efficient and quick operations, plus excellent manoeuvrability in tight warehouse spaces – without the associated emissions and fuel costs of the range’s internal combustion contemporaries.
The truck’s 96V battery, which is divided into two boxes stored side by side, was designed for fast inspection and replacement, with the assistance of a counterbalance truck.
The new truck series also comes equipped with a separate, sealed cabin mounted on ‘silent’ blocks, which cuts vibration for the driver and lowers the trucks’ noise level in operation, when combined with a hydraulic pump and front axle gears.
The driving position offers excellent visibility, as the trucks’ masts were specially designed – on customer feedback – to vastly increase the driver’s field of view.
