Gambro Healthcare recalls blood tubing sets

Gambro Healthcare has expanded the recent recall of blood tubing sets. The recall includes an earlier model of blood tubing sets that may be associated with recent incidents of hemolysis, a destruction of the red blood cells. These incidents were reported within the last three weeks in clinics located in Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, Alabama and Massachusetts. The expanded recall includes a total recall of an earlier version of blood tubing sets for the COBE Centrysystem 3. This type of blood tubing has been taken out of production earlier than planned.
