Hilferty speaks to local leaders on IBC’s business, health care reform

Philadelphia, PA — January 18, 2012Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty addressed more than 75 chief executive officers, presidents, and board chairs at a CEO Symposium on Wednesday hosted by the CEO Alliance. Hilferty spoke about his personal journey to becoming the CEO of a leading health insurer and shared his leadership philosophy.

“I’m happy to share some of the experiences that have shaped my management philosophy and business strategies,” said Hilferty. “Through the CEO Alliance, I’ve connected with fellow leaders professionally and personally, and it’s been rewarding to learn more about the many exceptional businesses in our community, which are led by some extraordinary people. With the health care landscape changing so dramatically due to reform, this was also a great opportunity to talk to CEOs about how they can best prepare their businesses for what’s coming later this year and beyond. ”

The symposium took place at the Union League in Philadelphia, with Steve Jannetta, a partner at Morgan Lewis, one of the sponsors of the CEO Alliance, introducing Hilferty. In his talk, Hilferty provided an overview of IBC’s business, growth strategies, and how the company is working to support health care reform. Hilferty also offered fellow business leaders advice on how to navigate the changing health care landscape.

The CEO Alliance provides members with networking opportunities and educational events to help them better lead and develop their organizations.
