Industrifonden invests in Anyfi Networks
Industrifonden is investing SEK 9 million in Malmö, Sweden-based Anyfi Networks, which is developing a technology for wireless Wi-Fi networks, so that users can access their home networks from anywhere. The current owners are also participating in the new share issue, which totals SEK 10 million. The money will be used for expansion and marketing.
Anyfi Networks offers a unique technology that enables operators to provide a secure and automatic connection to the end customer’s home network, regardless of where the customer is at the time. No installation is required in the user’s phone or portable computer, or any manual configuration, for the user to access to a totally secure, recognizable environment.
The technology also gives mobile operators the opportunity to effectively and securely offload data traffic from mobile networks onto Wi-Fi networks. At the same time broadband operators are able to utilize the spare capacity in their Wi-Fi networks to produce mobile broadband. This is becoming increasingly sought-after in pace with the exponential growth in Internet-hungry portable devices.
“Anyfi has developed an interesting technology and we feel that the company has great potential to succeed, since they have a smart solution to a large and growing problem for operators,” says Lennart Gustafson, Investment Manager at Industrifonden.
Founded in 2007, Anyfi Networks is located in the Minc incubator in Malmö.
“Adding Industrifonden as an owner means a lot to us,” says Björn Smedman, CEO of Anyfi Networks. “It allows us to accelerate the pace of our expansion and hire engineers and sales representatives to reach out with our technology to an international market.”
This is Industrifonden’s third new investment of the financial year July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013.
