Information Highway develops a mobile financial daily Daily financial news- direct to your palmtop Information Highway and Finanstidningen- Sweden's leading financial daily newspaper- have developed a mobile version of the newspaper for palmtop computer users. Key articles are now available in a mobile format the night before their ordinary publication date- a fast-food version of daily business news for information-hungry users. The Internet version of Finanstidningen- www.fti.se- is a fast, easily accessible and interactive financial news and analysis hub, which is now complemented in a mobile solution in three main sections: News, Stock Market & Investments and Opinion. The service is available as early as 10 p.m. on the night before publication. "Information should be easily accessible- news, stock ratings and research change rapidly, and Finanstidningen should be available wherever its readers are," Fredrik Eklund, www.fti.se's Web editor informed us. The service has been developed in an intimate collaboration between Finanstidningen and Information Highway, and is available to users of palmtops or PDAs (personal digital assistants, such as the Palm Pilot) or other hand- held units such as Nokia's Communicator. "Basically, what we've built is a supplementary service to www.fti.se- but this service is also the first step towards a contemporary form of publication where content is produced for subsequent publication across a multitude of media, or electronic channels, simultaneously," reports Oscar Christenson, a programmer at Information Highway. The user can determine in what form and by what channel he wants to read the publication, while content can also be adapted according to personal interests. In the next phase, it will be possible for services and content to be adapted to the user's geographical location, which alongside increased bandwidth, implies entirely new opportunities for the flexible distribution of business news or other forms of information. The solution is available for test at www.fti.se and www.fti.se/mobil.
