The Nordic infrastructure investor Infranode has completed an acquisition of 100% interest in 13 social and healthcare service facilities and their respective plots from the city of Jyväskylä in Central Finland. The mission critical portfolio consisting of two healthcare centres, five disabled care units, five youth and child protection facilities and one elderly care unit will continue to serve public sector under long-term partnership.

Social and healthcare services are undergoing an extensive reform in Finland. As a result, the responsibility of organising health and social services in the acquired facilities will transfer from the city of Jyväskylä to regional Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland on 1st of January 2023. The transaction allows the city of Jyväskylä to focus on its core responsibilities and future investments while Infranode as a committed owner enables purposeful facilities for the newly established wellbeing county now, and in the future.

This investment, with a total value of c. EUR 84 million, is a strong addition to Infranode’s existing investments in social infrastructure. Infranode sees future opportunities in the Nordic social infrastructure sector, and in Finland specifically this is driven by the structural reform and looks forward to being a long-term and responsible partner who can contribute with expertise and capital to the sector.

“Long-term investments in assets that are crucial for the society are in the core of Infranode's expertise. The Jyväskylä portfolio represents an essential part of the regional social and healthcare service network, and we look forward to provide functional premises for the needs of local users and population with a responsible and sustainable approach”, says Niikka Liimatainen, Investment Manager and Country Lead Finland at Infranode.

The use of the facilities will not be impacted by the ownership change. The assets will be managed locally together with facility and maintenance service providers.
