Billboard Charting Artist Performing In Austin, TX to Support Local Charity
Dance/Pop Artist Kwanza Jones Lends Her Time and Talent to The Octopus Club, Benefiting the AIDS Services of Austin, TX
(October 4, 2012 - Los Angeles, CA) The Octopus Club, a volunteer fundraising arm of AIDS Services of Austin, has invited two-time Billboard charting Dance/Pop artist, Kwanza Jones to perform at OctoTea 17. Occurring annually, the OctoTea party raises money assisting individuals affected by HIV and AIDS in the surrounding area.
Singer/Songwriter Kwanza Jones refers to herself as an “Ambassador for Equality”. With a growing presence in the LGBTQ community, her songs convey messages of strength and empowerment through bold, sassy lyrics and dance inducing rhythms. Jones says, “HIV and AIDS is a global crisis. Yet, the most effective way to show support is by mobilizing locally. AIDS Services of Austin is doing just that. I'm excited to unite with ASA and The Octopus Club for OctoTea 17. We're going to party for a purpose, raise some funds and help some people! I can't wait. It's Tea-time baby!”
The Octopus Club has been raising awareness and money for the Paul Kirby Emergency Fund for the last 18 years. With the support of hosts, corporate sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, their annual events and parties have raised over $1,000,000. According to The Octopus Club, the money raised “provides emergency financial assistance to those living with HIV and AIDS in Central Texas. These funds are distributed to individuals for basic living needs through AIDS Services of Austin on a case-by-case basis.”
