Local Dancers Confirmed To Perform Alongside Billboard Charting Artist At Austin Fundraiser
The Austin City Showgirls will be Performing with Dance/Pop Diva, Kwanza Jones, for AIDS Services of Austin’s Annual Fundraiser
(October 16, 2012 - Los Angeles, CA) The Austin City Showgirls will be joining Innovation Entertainment’s two-time Billboard charting artist, Kwanza Jones, on stage at OctoTea 17. Through their tremendous work in the community, the dance troupe was noticed by the singer/songwriter, and invited to perform alongside her at the HIV/AIDS fundraiser hosted by The Octopus Club, a volunteer fundraising arm of AIDS Services of Austin. The group has already shown immense support for OctoTea 17, creating awareness among the hundreds of fans on their Facebook page.
The Austin City Showgirls are known for providing quality performing arts education to the city of Austin, and most notably, producing choreography and backup dancers for Univision’s Latin award show, Premios Texas. The group has performed with Latin artists, such as Olga Tanon, Elvis Crespo, Vallejo, Fedro, Dulce Maria, and Ozomatli. Organized by dance and fitness expert, Abel Sanchez, and Pedro Hernandez, the group stays true to their mission of “educating the principals of all genres of dance and music, introducing a new age of performance and entertainment, generating new creativity to the performing arts nationally and internationally”.
The Octopus Club has been raising awareness and funds for the Paul Kirby Emergency Fund for the last 18 years. With the support of hosts, corporate sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, their annual events and parties have raised over $1,000,000. The money raised “provides emergency financial assistance to those living with HIV and AIDS in Central Texas.
