The Trevor Project and Reason To Party Collaborate for Eyes Wide Open, Featuring Billboard Charting Dance/Pop Diva, Kwanza Jones
(November 2, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA) Two-time Billboard charting Dance/Pop Artist, Kwanza Jones, is one of several performers invited to be a part of Eyes Wide Open, a charity event organized by The Trevor Project and Reason To Party. Tickets have gone on sale for the November 10th gala, set to take place in the Grand Ballroom at the W Hotel in Downtown San Francisco. Donations and ticket proceeds benefit The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.
The Trevor Project, founded in 1998 by James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski, and Randy Stone, “is determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including… nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone.” Since its formation, more than 200 counselors and several hundred active volunteers have provided help for tens of thousands of young people.
Singer/Songwriter Kwanza Jones refers to herself as an “Ambassador for Equality”. With a growing presence in the LGBTQ community, her songs convey messages of strength and empowerment through bold, sassy lyrics and dance inducing rhythms. Having participated in two AIDS awareness fundraisers last month, Jones takes pride in devoting her relentless energy to the health and well-being of others. With regard to The Trevor Project, Jones says, “Sometimes we just need to know that someone cares. That's the beauty of the Trevor Project. One person at a time, they help us realize how special and supercharged we really are. Spreading love and hope... it's a wonderful thing they do.”
