Danish/Swedish Venture Co-operation

Danish/Swedish Venture Co-operation At a time when there is very much focus on the Ørestad and the opportunities which arise in connection with the construction of a bridge between Denmark and Sweden, it is quite refreshing that a co-operation between the two countries can be established with another and wider geographical perspective. Three venture companies specialising in seed-investments have established a joint company, Videnkapital A/S, which will be investing in projects with commercial potential, primarily projects developed at universities and other science centres. The three venture companies are InnovationsKapital AB, TeknoSeed AB and NOVI A/S, which are connected with Chalmers Tekniska Högskola in Gothenburg, Linkjöping University, Lunds University and Aalborg University. The founders are convinced that it will be possible to establish a fruitful co-operation in connection with the commercialisation of scientific results from the above-mentioned universities as well as from university environments in the Copenhagen area. In order to secure the same degree of visibility in the Copenhagen university environments as in the home cities of the three founders, Videnkapital A/S has got a domicile in the Danish capital. The aim of Videnkapital A/S is to boost the commercial exploitation of scientific results by securing optimal growth of the individual investment projects by contributing with the necessary venture capital. Today the three venture companies have a venture capital of more than 600 mill. DKK at their disposal. The complete amount of capital is expected to reach 950 mill. DKK during this year. The venture capital of the three partners and their competence in the handling of start-up companies will strengthen high tech innovation, not only in the knowledge centres of the Ørestad region, but in the whole concentration of knowledge represented in South Sweden and Denmark.
