Ebuyer Site Crashes After Offering £1 Deal on Cyber Monday

Ebuyer was one brand to join the festivities but it seems the site could not deal with the sheer amount of traffic driven to the site and as a result has been offline for the majority of the day.

Thousands of Brits including a large number of students attempted to access the Ebuyer site today with the promise of £1 deals on a range of laptops and cameras amongst other gadgets. The sale was due to start at 11am but the site was reported as down from as early as 9am. When the site did return, connection speeds were slow and as a result many people missed out on the cheaply priced products.
The Ebuyer Facebook page read "We received an overwhelming response, which slowed the offer page and resulted in many people being unable to access the offers" earlier today.
"Our IT team has worked hard to rectify all issues and we are pleased to report that thousands of people have been able to take advantage of these great £1 deals. We will also continue updating the sale on a regular basis and letting people know via Facebook."
Student Money Saver also learnt that today, Cyber Monday, is expected to be the busiest online shopping day of the year as shoppers look for bargain gifts in time for Christmas. £303 million is expected to be spent online via Visa cards alone which in fact, equates to £3,500 a second in online sales.
