“The Simple Heart Test”—The Ultimate Valentine’s Day Gift for Your Loved One

As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, the typical gifts that come to mind include tasty chocolates, extravagant flowers and expensive jewelry. But this year consumers have the option of giving the ultimate gift to their loved ones—“The Simple Heart Test.” Developed by Dr. Chauncey Crandall, chief of the Cardiac Transplant Program at the Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Florida, this online personal survey allows people to understand a multitude of heart attack risk factors. By answering a series of questions, users obtain a cumulative score that shows where they stand on the “heart disease risk scale.”

Dr. Crandall also explains basic facts such as the common signs of a heart attack that include pain, pressure or constriction in the chest, discomfort that spreads to the shoulder, down one or both arms, back, neck, or jaw, nausea or vomiting, indigestion, heartburn, shortness of breath, sweating, or rapid or irregular heartbeats.

Dr. Crandall is available to discuss “The Simple Heart Test” as well as any topics related to heart health and heart attack prevention and treatment.
