Main patent for the European market approved
Insplorion's main patent "Sensor Using Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR)" has now been approved by the European Patent Office, EPO.
The patent was applied in May 2009 and has previously been approved in Japan, China and recently USA. The patent, with number EP2435817, covers the possibility to coat the sensor surface with different materials. This is predicted to provide a good protection as it is this methodology that gives the technology its robustness and its specific sensitivity to different molecules. The patent thus covers the technology’s main strengths within both business areas, Instruments and Sensor Systems.
The patent provides protection in Europe until May 25, 2030*. The next phase is to officially validate the patent in a number of strategic and commercially relevant countries within the European Patent Convention. The validation means that the EU approved patent will undergo the chosen country's administrative process.
"The fact that our main patent that protect our core technology now also is approved for the European market is of course very positive. The patent is now approved for all markets where it has been applied. Europe is crucial both as a large market but also as our home market were many of the first deals has been and will be made, for existing and new application areas for our technology", says Patrik Dahlqvist, CEO of Insplorion.
