PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 16, 2012 – Integra Telecom Inc., a provider of fiber-based, business-grade networking, communications and technology solutions, has been awarded contracts with the state of Washington and University of Washington to provide Ethernet services for government, education and public institutions throughout the state.

“Integra is well positioned to provide Carrier Ethernet grade, high-impact connectivity within the unique purchasing requirements of government agencies throughout our footprint,” said Trent Anderson, vice president of government and education sales for Integra Telecom. “We’re pleased to be a vendor for the state of Washington and the University of Washington, enabling institutions throughout the state to purchase Integra Ethernet services.”

The scalability and efficiency of Ethernet makes it the access and transport technology of choice for government and education entities. Integra continues to demonstrate its commitment to be a leading provider of Ethernet, with ongoing enhancements to their product portfolio. Toward that end, Integra recently released a robust performance monitoring web portal that allows customers to view graphical representations of their Ethernet network. Integra also continues to expand its network reach of Ethernet through ongoing network augmentations and new NNI partnerships.

Integra’s Secondary Ethernet Transport contract with the state of Washington enables the company to provide Ethernet services to any state, county and city departments as well as any institution within the K-20 Education Network, a high-bandwidth educational network that provides cost-effective video and data services to more than 2,500 schools and colleges throughout the state of Washington.

Similarly, Integra’s contract with the University of Washington names the company an approved provider of Ethernet services to four year universities, community colleges, University of Washington affiliated medical centers, public libraries and institutions within the K-20 Education Network.
