Intentia to build the first global B2B e-collaboration portal for the international shipbuilding industry TRIBON Solutions AB (formerly Kockums Computer Systems) has selected Intentia as its strategic partner in launching a new global marketplace for the shipbuilding industry. Order value: SEK 20 million. The solution will be built on Intentia's Java-based technology, Movex NextGen and will be delivered this fall on the Sun Solaris UNIX platform with an Oracle database. The portal will optimize the entire procurement process- so-called e- procurement- within shipbuilding and is the first of its kind. The potential market consists of the 400+ yards and 6,000+ suppliers on the world market today. TRIBON Solutions AB has already begun its sales effort and has so far signed letters of intent with approximately 30 partners in Europe, Asia and North America. Over the course of 25 years, TRIBON Solutions AB has developed a CAD/CAM system for shipbuilding and has 40+ percent of the market in the world today. "Intentia has the best competence and understanding of how the supply chain in this industry works, as well as a great deal of experience with e-business solutions that are seamlessly integrated with business systems," comments Rikard Roth, Vice President, TRIBON Solutions AB. "Having Intentia as a strategic collaborative partner in the context of our strategic development and repositioning makes us feel confident and secure," says Lennart Olson, CEO, TRIBON Solutions AB. "We are making a large investment in developing our position as a world-leading supplier of shipbuilding systems. Our plan, with e-procurement (that is, procurement over the Internet) as a first step, will make us a more comprehensive supplier with a stronger market position," adds Olson. "We are very glad and proud of having been entrusted to deliver a complete e-commerce solution based on Java technology, Movex NextGen - a contract we landed in razor-sharp competition with leading Web consultants and other suppliers," says Roland Persson, Vice President, Intentia Consulting Sverige. "In addition to being able to satisfy the customer's functional and competency requirements, a deciding factor in our winning this deal is the fact that we can now deliver Movex NextGen on the Sun Solaris UNIX platform with Oracle as the database," concludes Persson.
