Intentia Unveils Seamlessly Integrated Supply Chain Planning Tool Intentia, the enterprise applications, global software group, has announced the industry's first supply chain optimization tool to be seamlessly integrated into an ERP system. Movex Supply Chain Planner (SCP) enables companies to synchronize material supplies for the entire supply chain, taking into account capacity constraints for transport and production resources. It enables companies to systematically simulate 'what-if' options and allow them to optimize sourcing production and distribution across their entire supply chain network taking into account delivery capability, cost, production and transport options. First pilot implementations are scheduled for the second quarter of year 2000. General availability is expected in the second half of the year 2000. "Our research told us that the demands on the supply chain would increase dramatically, said Johan Berg, Managing Director Intentia R&D. This led us to develop a number of industry innovations, including the first ever Java-based ERP package. Now we've developed a strategic and tactical optimization application that is fully integrated with our leading Intentia Solution." Movex SCP uses the most advanced Microsoft technology and includes interactive geographical mapping, a unique scoreboard and other advanced graphics, to enable decision-makers to evaluate options. Scenario menus guide users through the planning optimization process. Movex Supply Chain Planner is a fully integrated part of the Movex supply chain functionality, which includes powerful forecasting, sales and operations planning, advanced production planning and scheduling. These can all be combined with a broad range of Movex e-business applications. Through an agreement with renowned optimization algorithm provider, Dash Associates, Movex Supply Chain Planner also features XPRESS-MP optimization. "Movex Supply Chain Planner will strengthen Intentia's Industry Application Solutions especially for Fashion, Food & Beverage and Distribution industries, all of them characterized by increasing globalization, mass customization and outsourcing," added Berg.
