REACTION TO NEW AIRPORT CAR PARKING SURVEY

Blackpool International is reminding passengers of its free passenger parking after a new report by Which? revealed massive differences in car parking tariffs among the UK’s busiest airports. Blackpool International has been operating a 15-day free passenger parking initiative since January 2009, as part of a strategy to strengthen its presence in Lancashire and the Lake District. The Which? report exposed massive differences in charges for a seven day period at 15 of the UK’s busiest airports with the most expensive at Heathrow. Sue Kendrick, Communication and Customer Relations Manager, said: “The cheapest was £19.84 for off site parking but here at Blackpool International all our passengers can park for 15 days for free, close to the airport terminal! “Blackpool International also operates a passenger £10 Airport Development Fee to fund airline and route development as well as investment in infrastructure but that charge is completely compensated by the 15 days free passenger parking marketing initiative. “In the majority of cases it represents a considerable saving compared to other airport parking charges or a return taxi journey fare.” Blackpool International was recently voted Best UK Airport in a Which? passenger survey in 2009.
