BUSINESS travellers across Lancashire and the Lake District are being canvassed for their views to help reinstate a much sought after London link from Blackpool International. The airport is seeking the opinions of North West business travellers to gather vital information about preferred flying destinations, favoured flying timings and general travel arrangements. The data collected from the business travellers’ questionnaire over the coming weeks is expected to play a vital role in helping Blackpool International negotiate fresh route opportunities and attract new airlines. Sue Kendrick, Customer Relations and Communications Manager for Blackpool International, said: “We are determined that Blackpool International will once again offer the business community direct flights to London, and possibly other major regional hubs within the UK and Europe. “We are well aware that the Blackpool to London link has been greatly missed and we are very keen to make a strong case to the airlines for reinstating it. “We cannot, however, do this alone and the more we know about travelling habits, preferred timings and airport destinations, the better. With this information, we can be confident of providing more routes and destinations from Blackpool International.” Hugh Evans, Director of Policy at the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, encouraged business travellers to support the airport’s endeavours. He said: “Good quality transport links are vital to the prosperity of our region. “The importance of a successful and thriving Blackpool International Airport to our local business community, therefore, cannot be underestimated because not only will it provide a valuable resource for our local business community but it will also offer a valuable incentive for potential investors to locate in our area, acting as an economic driver in its own right.” The business questionnaire features a total of 18 questions – and can be easily completed in five to 10 minutes.
