Central Fitness Sports & Fitness Club in St Helens has teamed up with the governing body of England Squash and Racketball to encourage participation in both sports. The club is offering special daily sessions in squash and racketball for only £2 per session which includes instruction from a Level 3 England Squash and Racketball licensed coach. Nick Tildesley, Centre Manager at Central Fitness, said: “Our joint aim with England Squash and Racketball is to cater for parents with children at school and to encourage former squash players who want to get back into the sport. “Squash was voted ‘The world’s healthiest sport’ by Forbes Magazine, so we are delighted to be offering these sessions with such a prestigious organisation as England Squash and Racketball. “Racketball is an exciting new addition to our sports programmes as it has similar health benefits to squash but requires less speed around the court. Both provide all round muscular cardio exercise and are great fun.” Harry Jackson, Central Fitness gym member, said: “”I played squash years ago but now I’ve been introduced to racketball I’m going back on court….beats the treadmill any day!” A low fee of £2 per session, Monday through to Friday, has been set so that as many people as possible can have the opportunity to try out the sports or develop the skills that they may already have. The club also plans to organise internal leagues and special club nights. • The day time sessions are held between 10am and 12 noon (Monday to Friday) at the Central Fitness Sports & Fitness Club in Duke Street, St Helens • Available to people 16 years plus • Membership not necessary For further details of the programme call 01744 751 007 or call in at our reception. -ends- Notes to editors: Central Fitness Sports & Fitness Club offers affordable gym membership and has an excellent range of facilities including: a state-of-the-art fitness suite with a range of free weights, cardiovascular and fixed resistance machines, a sports rehab clinic, competition squash courts, and a relaxing lounge area.
