Scott Rees Partner returns from Poland

Scott Rees Marketing Partner has been renamed Phileas Fogg by his colleagues after successfully making it back to Blighty after being stranded in Poland at the end of his holiday!

David Byrne had been on a two-day historical tour of Poland when the Icelandic volcano erupted grounding all flights in and out of the UK. Due to fly back to the UK on Friday, instead he traveled home by car, coach and train across Eastern and Northern Europe thanks to help from his colleagues back in the Scott Rees offices in Skelmersdale who were researching and booking travel arrangements. David finally made it back yesterday (Sunday), after traveling from Krakow to Warsaw, from Warsaw to Berlin, from Berlin to Amsterdam, from Amsterdam (Amstel) to Calais and Eurostar to Dover. He then traveled by coach to London, and through to Euston before arriving back in Liverpool by train, and then home via Liverpool John Lennon Airport to collect his car! David said: “I couldn’t believe it when we heard news of all the flights being stopped…we started phoning home, asking when the next flights would be but everything was so uncertain. ”It was then that we realized we’d have to make our own way back by whatever transport possible. “The atmosphere in Poland was also very strange because the country was in a state of mourning; it has been a very bizarre end to our holiday, but I am just glad to be home, and thankfully back in work today.” Since arriving home, David has been told by his travel insurance company, Insure & Go that his additional travel costs which are in excess of £600 will not be reimbursed as a volcano eruption is not covered under the terms of insurance. He is also experiencing problems communicating with airline carrier, Easyjet, in order to obtain a refund for the cancelled flight. Notes to Editors Images: Travelling home from Poland.
