Intrum Justitia and Goldman Sachs have jointly agreed to acquire a large portfolio of written-off, non-performing bank loans from one of Germany’s leading banks. The portfolio comprises over 65,000 accounts with an aggregate outstanding principal and interest value of approximately EUR 485 M (approximately SEK 4.5 billion).

Jan Roxendal, President and CEO of Intrum Justitia said, “We are pleased to announce this significant acquisition in Europe’s largest economy. Purchase of written-off receivables is a vital part of our offering within Credit Management Services and an important complement to our core business.” Intrum Justitia has established joint venture co-operations for significant investments in debt purchase with Calyon and with Goldman Sachs. This is the third acquisition that Intrum Justitia has made together with Goldman Sachs. During the first half of 2006, Intrum Justitia acquired 130 portfolios of defaulted receivables, either together with its partners or on its own account. These portfolios are mainly composed of written-off unsecured bank loans, finance and telecom debt with a principal amounting to approximately SEK 2.2 billion.
