Johan Åkerblom has been appointed CFO of Intrum AB. Åkerblom has an extensive background in senior management roles in financial institutions including SEB and, most recently, Citadele Bank where he was CFO and since 2020 CEO of the group.

“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Johan Åkerblom as Intrum’s new CFO”, says Andrés Rubio, President and CEO of Intrum. “Johan’s international background of key senior positions in the financial services industry, such as CFO of SEB in Germany, CFO of the SEB’s Baltic Division, and both CFO and CEO of Citadele Bank, is a perfect match for Intrum.”

“Johan will play an important role, together with me, driving our near-term agenda with a focus on strengthening our financial profile through reduced leverage”, continues Andrés Rubio. “In addition, I look forward to Johan’s contributions to Intrum’s  Executive Committee and Group Management Team as we continue to deliver on our long-term strategic plan initiated at the Capital Markets Day in September last year with focus on the three strategic pillars: operational excellence, client-centric focus and capital-light investing.”

Johan Åkerblom started his career at McKinsey & Co and also worked at ISS Facility Management prior to joining SEB. Johan will join Intrum at a later date in 2024 and succeeds Emil Folkesson, who has been interim CFO since February 2024. Emil will return to his role as Investor Relations Director at Intrum.
