Distence Solves the Digitalization of Industrial Machinery
Press release 31 May 2018 – Distence has developed new products for the digitalization and condition monitoring of rotating machinery and equipment with advanced intelligence. The new products enable industrial machine and equipment manufacturers and service companies to digitalize their machines and equipment and develop new, intelligent services for their customers. The present solutions introduce new, more advanced and automated tools for vibration monitoring.
The features of the new Condence IoT cloud combined with Distence’s T200 and T210 smart terminals offer a completely new solution that is particularly well suited for use- and condition monitoring and management of rotating machines and equipment. It enables the remote monitoring of equipment such as motors, gears, pumps and industrial fans, ensuring cost-efficiency and premium quality. The solution is suitable for both legacy assets and new machines and equipment.
“Our customers use the system for the monitoring and management of the global assets of their customers, for example, at wind farms, industrial cranes and industrial gear units,” says Distence CEO Kim Korhonen. “They use Distence’s solution as the foundation for their own use and condition monitoring product. The system can foster understanding and intimacy between the customer and the supplier, which is important for a long-term partnership.”
The smart terminals provide, for example, local analysis of vibration signals. The Condence cloud analysis tools feature more intelligence than ever, offering new automation for vibration control and device fault diagnostics. The solution enables managing intelligent terminal software and enhances their features dynamically as the business needs grow.
New T200 and T210 smart units:
Increased intelligence means increasing data processing at the level of individual devices. The data is processed near to its place of production, in line with the principles of edge-computing or distributed intelligence. Distence’s smart terminal analyses the data from the sensors independently, working as the “brain” of the system. This takes data collection to a new level.
The latest members of the Distence product family, T200 and T210, can read four or eight vibration channels simultaneously and analyze signal frequencies up to 24 kHz. The products can be equipped with a digital bus, such as CAN or Modbus, and a total of 11 temperature, pressure, tachometer and other analogic sensors. These features provide a comprehensive overview of the use and condition of the machine.
“We are bringing a solution that used to be available only for large-scale plants to enterprises of all sizes,” CEO Korhonen comments. “In practice, the solution provides machine and equipment manufacturers and retrofitters with a comprehensive toolkit for adding remote condition and usage control and management to their products, including everything from smart sensors to the user interface.”
“Distence uses its highly professional skills in the field of IoT much in the same way as we operate in equity offerings: we both enable companies of all sizes to benefit from solutions that used to be available only to large-scale enterprises,” says Lasse Mäkelä, CEO of Invesdor.
Condence IoT cloud:
Condence IoT cloud offers user and equipment management, warning and alert tools as well as a range of tools for vibration monitoring and spectral analysis. In the future, Condence will offer even more advanced intelligence and automated vibration control that enables detecting risks related to, for example, imbalance, malalignment and bearing or cog fault at an early stage.
Distence’s Condence IoT platform, software and smart terminals are an efficient toolkit that can notably improve the condition and use monitoring of industrial assets, increasing their utilization rate and extending their life cycles. In addition, these products enable providing customers and users with new services by gaining a better understanding of the operation, use, location and condition of the machine.
