“Tubecon is a modern Finnish export product”, said Tubecon CEO Risto Kuulasmaa. “Successful events in Finland, Sweden and Spain have taken our concept to the international level. Our goal is to expand to at least five new countries in the next year and establish a Europe-wide network while expanding into a multi-platform media business.”
Browsing and watching videos on YouTube has become increasingly popular and YouTube is one of the most used social media platforms among youngsters. Furthermore, YouTubers are among the teenagers’ most admired idols. The Tubecon events offer an excellent opportunity to reach this target group. The events bring influencers, fans and brands together in a unique way. Last year Tubecon Finland, annually held in Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, attracted 19,000 visitors.
Tubecon differentiates itself from others with its licensing model. In the licensing model the local event organizer acquires a license and receives instructions from Tubecon’s professionals on how to arrange the event. Tubecon’s representatives assist with arrangements and manage the building of the event together with the local YouTuber community. The licensing model enables rapid international growth, creation of a network as well as international sponsorship agreements. The first partner in the Nordics is Nokia, represented by HMD.
Reaching a turnover of EUR 600,000 last year, Tubecon Oy is led by a number of industry experts. The company management has solid experience in the media industry, international formats and licensing. CEO Risto Kuulasmaa has worked on internationalizing the Dudesons and developing the Docventures TV format. He has also held a management position in the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE. Tubecon’s international core team has also experience in international licensing of the Idols, Talent and X-Factor TV programs as well as in leading several film and video production companies. Pauli Aalto-Setälä, the chairman of Tubecon’s board, holds the position as CEO of Aller Media, one of the leading media houses in Finland.
”Tubecon has all it takes to become an international success. We are currently negotiating with multiple partner candidates. Now, the crowdfunding campaign presents everyone of age the opportunity to be part of the company’s growth story”, said Kuulasmaa.
The goal is to raise at least EUR 375,000 to support the company's growth and internationalization. The crowdfunding campaign is being conducted on the Invesdor crowdfunding platform during August.
