61 percent of Inwido's sales 2021 met the Taxonomy's screening criteria
When Inwido sums up the 2021 sales of windows and doors via the Group's 29 business units, 61 percent of the sales reach the screening criteria in the taxonomy to make a substantial contribution, which are stated at a u-value of 1.0 for windows and 1.2 for doors. The share is a significant step forward compared to a share of 45 percent for the 2020 financial year.
The European Commission's limit values aim to steer investments towards the use of modern windows and doors, which are significantly more energy-saving than older products that are to a very large extent found in today's buildings in Europe. According to the European Commission, buildings in the EU are the single largest energy-consuming sector, accounting for about 40 percent of energy consumption and 36 percent of carbon dioxide emissions. Replacing energy-inefficient windows and doors with energy-efficient alternatives is therefore considered an important part of achieving climate goals in Europe.
- Our products have a big role to play because energy-efficient windows and doors save a lot of energy during their lifetime. As a leading player in our industry, we will contribute to leading the environmental adaption and I am pleased with the rapidly increasing share of sales that meet the Taxonomy's limit values, says Henrik Hjalmarsson, President and CEO of Inwido.
Following Inwido's continued mapping of criteria and thresholds, product classifications and the Group's sales in 2022, the proportion of windows and doors within the Group that meet the taxonomy's limit values is expected to increase gradually. Inwido's long-term goal is to reach at least 75 percent by 2030 according to the EU taxonomy's technical review criteria.
