iOra to supply its patented replication technology over a four year period.

Guildford, UK– 13th November 2012 – iOra, the world’s leading expert in delivering data to the network edge, has been appointed by leading UK ship management company, Zodiac Maritime Agencies Limited (“Zodiac”) to supply its patented replication technology over a four year period.

Zodiac manages one of the largest UK flagged fleets and recently embarked on a review of IT systems and operations to improve the way critical information was distributed. Previously, Safety Management System (SMS) updates were delivered on a CD to vessels; a costly, unreliable, time consuming, delayed and dated process. Zodiac wanted to start distributing this information across the network in an efficient, fast and reliable way. The company selected iOra’s data replication solution to deliver documents effectively to its ships and has purchased 150 licences to replicate critical files including SMS updates to improve and streamline its information distribution process.

“We selected iOra because it was the best performing technology in its class to address the challenge of updating safety management manuals to the vessels. Using a CD to do this was very resource and time consuming,” said Ilan Shechter, IT Manager, Zodiac. “The introduction of the technology has enabled us to significantly improve efficiency and has now been deployed across the fleet, transforming the way we operate. We are now looking at using this technology in other areas of the Zodiac business.”

iOra’s patented replication technology works in environments where available network bandwidth is as low as 2kbps. Offering server to server, server to virtual server and server to laptop solutions, iOra’s technology platforms are used extensively in the commercial and public sectors to replicate data and deliver a cost-effective and robust solution for remote business critical users, in some of the world’s most challenging locations.

“This is an exciting relationship for iOra and Zodiac, highlighting how iOra is recognized as a leader in data replication for the maritime market,” said Mark Thompson,CEO, iOra. “Our patented technology has provided Zodiac with a resource-free solution to the problems faced when delivering critical documents quickly and safely to ships across the world.”

With over 65,000 machines currently licensed to perform iOra replication, iOra has been replicating data to the network edge for customers for more than 12 years across a broad range of industries. iOra’s customers include organizations operating in demanding sectors such as shipping, mining and energy.
