ISG Delivers Fast-Track Customer Contact Centre for Severn Trent Water

ISG has successfully completed a fast-track £2.8 million contract to create a new Customer Contact centre in Derby for Severn Trent Water, as part of the utility company’s ‘Workplace Improvement Programme’. As the only contractor to be appointed to both sub £1 million, and £1 million plus value bands, ISG has delivered numerous refurbishment, health & safety, public access and historical building renovation schemes for Severn Trent Water over the past four years.

In this latest project, ISG has remodelled and refurbished a former credit card call centre headquarters, opposite Derby’s Pride Park Stadium, creating purpose-built facilities for Severn Trent Water. The 45,000 sq ft single-storey building with existing mezzanine floor was partially stripped out, with ISG installing additional mechanical and electrical services.

Reconfiguring the internal layout, by the design team consisting of Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and hurleypalmerflatt, has created new meeting rooms, a restaurant, quiet zones, a first aid area and wellbeing zone for Customer Contact centre staff. ISG also installed new carpets and wall coverings throughout the building.

The extremely tight schedule for the project saw ISG employ a collaborative approach to planning the scheme with the client, working back from Severn Trent Water’s required handover date to establish a deliverable programme. Any potential buildability issues were identified early in the process as were opportunities to make efficiency savings in both time and costs to ensure successful completion within the 15 week deadline. ISG also adopted flexible and extended working hours throughout the project.
