ISG has been awarded eight new projects by Cheshire West and Chester Council with a total contract value of c. £4 million as part of the North West Construction Hub Medium Value Framework.

Seven of the eight projects involve classroom refurbishments at schools across the local authority, with projects at Upton Westlea Primary, Highfield Primary, Acresfield Primary and Cherry Grove Primary making up one package and Byley Primary, Aston-by-Sutton Primary and Winsford High Street Primary combining to make the second package.

The classroom refurbishments build on ISG’s education sector track record with Cheshire West and Chester Council, with work progressing on a £1.8 million mobile classroom replacement programme across four schools and a £1.2 million, four classroom extension project nearing completion at Mickle Trafford Primary School in Chester. This latest suite of classroom projects will commence on site in February/March 2012 and will be completed as true design and build schemes, with ISG carrying out feasibility studies, early cost plans, design and construction.

The final project in ISG’s latest round of North West Construction Hub wins is the £636K refurbishment of Chester Town Hall. The 19th century building is still home to the Lord Mayor’s office and will remain in occupation throughout the works programme. The project will involve reconfiguring the existing building, extensive internal refurbishment to create high quality function facilities and an upgrade of the existing Assembly Room, including the installation of a new audio visual system. A new commercial kitchen will also be installed as part of the scheme, as well as the refurbishment of toilet facilities and the addition of a platform lift for disabled access.

ISG’s Jim Parker, managing director - North West, commented: “Maintaining the consistency and performance of project delivery across any framework is essential to future success, and I’m delighted that the business continues to secure an increasing volume of award wins from the North West Construction Hub. The influence of this framework is growing across the region, encompassing public sector projects within Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, as local authorities recognise the benefits of a partnering approach.

“Frameworks prove an excellent mechanism to derive best value and drive efficiencies throughout the supply chain and ISG’s values of quality, best practice, service delivery and close engagement with communities to derive local economic benefit are a core feature of the North West Construction Hub.”
