ISG Scores Sports Pavilion Scheme At Cambridge College
ISG has been awarded an £800,000 project to construct a new sports pavilion for Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge that will serve the college’s sports teams and the local community.
The 32-week programme sees ISG construct a replacement for the existing sports pavilion, which will be demolished once the new facility is completed. Designed to provide modern changing, shower and toilet facilities for home and away teams, together with officials’ accommodation and a groundskeeper storage area, the new pavilion will be primarily used by rugby, football and cricket teams.
The pavilion has been designed using guidance from Sport England with the timber frame building newly located to an area beyond the cricket boundary to mitigate potential damage to the structure from cricket balls. The pavilion features larch cladding to its façade and a wide veranda to its front elevation, with a roof mounted plant deck helping maximise the usable space within the building.
ISG’s Ian Gifford, managing director – East, commented: “Sport is a very important aspect of the culture at Hills Road Sixth Form College and the pavilion has historically formed a key link between college life, local teams and the wider community. The new pavilion will provide an upgrade to existing facilities at the college and play a major role in ensuring opportunities to excel in team sports are made available to future generations of students.”
