ISG Secures Beckton Primary School Scheme

ISG is underway with a £1.3 million project to extend Gallions Primary School in Beckton.

Originally constructed in the 1990s and located close to the Olympic Village, the primary school needs to increase the capacity of its classroom and communal spaces in line with local population growth. The 37-week design & build programme sees ISG add a further six classrooms to the existing school building, carry our alterations to the main hall and construct a new car park.

ISG is working closely with architects, IID (Initiatives in Design), to deliver the single-storey extension, which will be of traditional steel frame and masonry construction. As the school was originally constructed on remediated land, piles were put in place for an anticipated future extension during the original build programme, negating the requirement for any further piling works on site. The alterations to the hall see ISG remove under-used changing facilities in order to create additional internal space, as well as carrying out a full fit out of the new extension.
