ISG Secures The Studio at Knutsford Academy Scheme
ISG has been awarded a £2.2 million project, via the North West Construction Hub (NWCH) framework, to deliver a regional centre of excellence for academic and employability related education at Knutsford Academy in Cheshire. The Studio will accommodate up to 300, 14-19 year olds providing academic learning alongside a vocational curriculum, with close links to local employers and major regional commercial organisations.
The Studio will be housed within a new two-storey, steel-frame building on the existing school campus, featuring a range of high-specification classroom accommodation, state-of-the-art ICT suites, training spaces, break out areas and a ground floor café. Additionally, ISG will carry out a range of improvements within the existing Academy building to provide further facilities for The Studio, including upgrading the hall to create a fully functional performance space with tiered seating, a new sound system, theatre lighting and control room for co-ordinating theatre productions.
Developed to foster much greater interaction between students and regional employers, The Studio will deliver GCSE, A-Level, BTEC courses and professional programmes relating to the use of digital technologies in the core employment pathways of computing, design-based industries, broadcast media, sport and leisure and performing arts. Students will have the opportunity of working directly for businesses and experiencing real workplace environments, better equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to make a key contribution to business as working adults.
