ISG smashes £150K charity fundraising target

ISG employees have successfully surpassed their target of raising £150,000 for the company’s charity partner, CARE International UK, two months before the two year partnership is due to end in September.

ISG’s fundraising total currently stands at £161,565, securing donations through a wide range of initiatives with employees, friends and family, supply chain partners and customers all contributing to this impressive total. Initiatives included dress down Fridays, charity auctions, and participation in organised fundraising events, including the London Marathon and the Tough Mudder Challenge.

The international fundraising effort has engaged teams in ISG offices as far afield as the Middle East, Malaysia and Hong Kong, encompassing around 2,000 employees. The tie up has been about much more than just raising funds and has been a comprehensive programme of support that has seen ISG engage with the charity at all levels, from strategic initiatives – including the overseas secondment of a member of the company’s senior team, to pro bono design and fit out work for CARE International UK’s London office base.

Philippa Stone, ISG’s group head of sustainability, commented: “We selected CARE International UK as our partner charity after a rigorous process involving the engagement of all ISG employees and a sharp focus on how we could add value beyond conventional fundraising, through active collaboration.

“Fundraising has remained an important element of the support we have been able to offer to CARE International, however we recognised that our built environment expertise would enable us to give a more comprehensive package of support to our partner with a genuine legacy.

CARE International has been ISG’s charity partner since September 2014; a decision prompted, in part, by the charity’s focus on shelter, particularly during emergency situations such as the devastating typhoon in the Philippines earlier the same year along with CARE’s commitment to working to lift people out of poverty in 79 countries around the world.

Philippa adds: “As an international business, we were inspired by CARE’s global reach and felt that our expertise in construction and risk management could be of significant value to the charity. We’re delighted to be making such a difference and pleased that our team has really got on board with a programme of fundraising initiatives that has proved so successful.”
