ISG is set to provide a boost to the Hartlepool economy when, in conjunction with Hartlepool College of Further Education and Cleveland Fire Authority, the company hosts a Supply Chain Open Day event in March to meet local businesses interested in working on projects associated with its £22 million, four year capital build framework with Cleveland Fire Authority.

The breakfast event will be held on Thursday 6th March at Hartlepool College of Further Education, from 8.00am to 10.30am and will feature presentations from ISG, Cleveland Fire Authority and Hartlepool College of Further Education representatives.

ISG is looking to work with high quality local and regional businesses, across all areas of the construction trade spectrum, interested in opportunities relating to this key public sector framework, which encompasses the construction of four new local fire stations and a new headquarters for the Fire Authority in Hartlepool. The contractor is looking to procure a high proportion of the materials and trade packages required to deliver these projects from locally-based specialist firms.

In addition to fully utilising the skills and expertise of the regional supply chain, ISG is also committed to providing a lasting employment and skills training legacy, with the contractor looking to employ a significant number of trade apprentices over the course of the four year framework. ISG’s apprenticeship partner, Hartlepool College of Further Education, will be on hand to explore the apprenticeship opportunities available to interested trade contractors.

The Supply Chain Open Day is one of a series of events that ISG is both hosting and attending over the course of National Apprenticeship Week 2014, which takes place from the 3rd to the 7th of March.

Alan McCarthy-Wyper, managing director of ISG’s Construction business, commented: “This event provides an excellent opportunity for high quality local construction trade specialists to learn more about the opportunities associated with this major regional framework. A key element of the day is exploring the wealth of skills, training and apprenticeship opportunities we will look to create over this four year period, providing a long-lasting skills legacy that will not only benefit the local Hartlepool economy, but also the wider construction industry.”
