CMS High Impact Mat Brings Nuisance Noise Down for Waitrose

CMS Acoustics, the UK’s largest provider of acoustic solutions, has supplied and installed its High Impact Mat at a Waitrose store in Balham, London, to prevent high levels of noise generated by warehouse deliveries from disturbing nearby residents. Manufactured from a non-reflective and slip resistant material which exceeds the highest safety standards, CMS High Impact Mat reduces excess sound by cushioning and absorbing the impact that would normally occur from trolleys and cages. CMS Acoustics recommended High Impact Mat after identifying that a durable material would be required to withstand the large metal cages being transported along the warehouse floor. Composed of reclaimed rubber, EPDM granulate and PUR binder, CMS High Impact Mat is an environmentally friendly product available in a range of thicknesses, from 4mm to 12mm. At Waitrose, the material was specified at a thickness of 10mm. Waitrose branch manager, Steve Baller, commented: “As part of our commitment to minimise disruption to our neighbours it was important to find a product that would reduce noise. CMS High Impact Mat has proven to be an excellent product, the sound levels have been reduced substantially and the floor is able to withstand the weight of loads coming into the warehouse.” Quick and easy to install, CMS Acoustics completed the 150m2 installation of High Impact Mat in just two days. Critical to minimising disruption to store operations, CMS High Impact Mat was able to carry traffic 24 hours after installation. Paul Absolon, technical director of CMS Acoustics, concludes: “Residents want the convenience of local amenities without the risk of nuisance noise. The rise in inner city and retail developments means we are increasingly having to troubleshoot noise challenges caused by store deliveries. However, with proven expertise in this field, and an unrivalled product range, CMS Acoustics is well equipped to offer the complete solution.”
