New from Ivy Press – Beautiful Horses – portraits of 40 champion breeds preened to perfection
Move over cows, make room sheep, for there’s a new handsome beast waiting in the wings... Trotting into the spotlight in the best-selling Beautiful ... series is a unique bevy of elegant equine beauties.
Beautiful Horses showcases 40 of the world’s most magnificent breeds, from the traditional Shetland to the rare Norwegian Fjord, the diminutive Miniature to the majestic Canadian Belgian. Stylishly lit against a studio background, each prize-winning pony has been preened for their moment in front of the photographer’s lens. And the results will have you whinnying with delight.
Each stunning photograph is accompanied by a description of the breed, covering its origins, attributes, uses and related breeds. An illuminating introduction explores the colourful history of the horse, and reportage photography offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of these equestrian stars as they prepare for the show.
Liz Wright edited Smallholder magazine for over 25 years and is the author of several books on small farming and domestic poultry. Passionate about horses and ponies from an early age, she now breeds Exmoor ponies as well as showing Welsh ponies. Liz acts as a panel judge in the show ring, using her expert eye to officiate across most breeds and types, in both performance and in-hand classes.
Andrew Perris has tackled a wide range of challenging commissions during the 20 years he has worked as a photographer. These include photographing champion breeds at agricultural and poultry shows for Beautiful Dogs, Beautiful Chickens and Beautiful Owls.
