America’s world-away waterpark extends authentic African experience

with spring break promotion 

Kalahari Resorts, home to America’s largest indoor waterparks, today named the winner of its African Safari Spring Break promotion, a Detroit, Mich., wife, mom and professional photographer, Natalie Houde. She and her daughter, Emily, were guests at Kalahari Resorts - Sandusky in April visiting with friends for the first time. Houde is thrilled to be traveling to the Republic of South Africa with her family, as her husband, Sean, has spent

 three-and-a-half years in the Horn of Africa as a deployed civilian in support of the Combined Joint Task Force for the U.S. military.

“We loved our stay at Kalahari over Spring Break and love it even more now that we’ve been awarded this incredible opportunity,” Houde said. The Houde family will receive a travel allowance for airfare, resort accommodations and activities with a retail value of about  $22,000 provided by Kalahari Resorts. “We’re looking forward to visiting Africa and creating new memories as a family,” she added. “The safari is going to be amazing, and a special highlight will be seeing Nelson Mandela’s prison cell, as it is such a huge part of South Africa’s history.” As a professional photographer focused on capturing life’s most celebrated moments, the safari trip will also give her access to some of the world’s most beautiful landscape, wildlife and scenery, a camera buff’s dream come true.

The Kalahari African Safari Spring Break sweepstakes began Feb. 14 and ended April 10. The winner was randomly selected from a pool of nearly 48,000 eligible entrants, including guests staying at Kalahari during the sweepstakes period.

African-themed Kalahari Resorts, with waterparks in the Wisconsin Dells and Sandusky, Ohio, is privately held by the Nelson family. The resorts’ theme and décor was inspired by the family’s love of the African continent’s land and culture.
