Jake Shoes Nominated for Five Footwear Industry Awards
The Manchester based independent shoe retailer has been nominated for not one but five Footwear Industry Awards. They now need the vote of the rest of the footwear industry to progress to the next stage.
Independent shoe retailer Jake Shoes were this week delighted to announce that they’ve been nominated for the prestigious Footwear Industry Awards. It’s been a busy year for the Manchester-based independent shoe retailer, what with celebrating 40 years in business – and now to top it off, they’ve been nominated for not one, but five categories!
Now, Jake Shoes are seeking the help of their friends in the footwear industry. Consumer votes don't count, so Voting is only open to suppliers, retailers and fashion writers and bloggers.
Winning an award is a great opportunity to raise the profile of a small business. With only a handful of independent shoe retailers left in Manchester, they are up against some huge industry names at the national awards. The team at Jake Shoes are honoured by their nominations, which include:
- Men’s Independent Retailer
- Women’s Independent Retailer
- Children’s Independent Retailer
- Fashion Independent Retailer
- Independent Family Retailer
Now in their fifth year, the awards are an opportunity to promote the hard work and efforts of retailers, recognising outstanding performance in the footwear industry. The Footwear Industry Awards are organised in association with the British Footwear Association (BFA), Independent Footwear Retailers Association (IFRA), the Society of Shoe Fitters and industry magazine, Footwear Today. The ceremony will be a glam and glitzy event, held on Sunday 21st February 2016.
Jake Bland is the owner of Jake Shoes (his parents named the store they founded after him when he was just a child). He said: “It’s a real honour to be recognised by these organisations, particularly as an independent store. We’re up against some tough competition in the five categories we’ve been nominated for, so we’ve got our fingers crossed that our friends and associates within the industry recognise our hard work and vote for us!”
Since it opened in Stockport in 1975, Jake Shoes has remained a family-run business, selling the latest in men’s, women’s and children’s shoes, with a focus on providing the people of Manchester with the latest in footwear trends at extremely reasonable prices. They have built up a loyal customer base and have more recently expanded their business to include a second store in Manchester’s Arndale centre as well as an online store, which has allowed them to expand the business into the world of e-commerce and sell shoes to people up and down the country.
