Tunstall based firm, Morning Fresh, is defying the credit crunch and taking on new staff on a regular basis. The company is now a leading player in both the consumer and commercial greengrocery markets and believes its investment in staff training has played a key role in this achievement. A recent Presentation Evening at Tunstall Floral Hall celebrated the success of Morning Fresh staff in completing qualifications relevant to their job roles and contributing to the company’s increasing prosperity. Over 90% of the 50 strong workforce have completed an NVQ or Apprenticeship in a range of subjects including Management, Team Leading, Business Administration, Customer Service and Warehousing and Storage. A number of staff are so enthused by the programme that they are currently on their second or event third qualification. Bill Summerscales, Managing Director of Morning Fresh, commented: “All of the staff have benefited from the training which shares an important part in the success of Morning Fresh. Many of our staff went on training courses and I was very pleased with the outcome. The presentation night was a great success and I was delighted to see that the staff had received recognition which was well-deserved for their new knowledge and skills.” The Presentation Evening was well-attended by Morning Fresh employers and management as well as staff from JHP Training who delivered all of the qualification on the Morning Fresh premises. Rob Adams from JHP Training said: “Morning Fresh has a belief in the achievement of excellence through appropriate training and JHP Training have been privileged to be partners in that philosophy.” A special award was given to Rob Jones, a Warehouse Operative, to recognise his dedication in achieving a Level 2 qualification despite facing a number of challenging social issues. Rob’s commitment had previously also been recognised by his nomination as Apprentice of the Year in the National Apprenticeship Awards in February. Rob said: “To be nominated for Apprentice of the Year and recognised within Morning Fresh is brilliant. When I started my Apprenticeship, I didn’t think I was good enough to complete it but I have and it has made me a lot more confident and keen to progress further within the firm.” The partnership between Morning Fresh and JHP Training just shows that nurturing potential can truly harvest a bumper crop of talent.
