Breaking Ground for Rental Apartments in Täby

Today Leif Gripestam, municipal executive committee chairman in Täby, will turn the first shovel of dirt for JM's new low energy housing project "Markan" in Hägernäs Strand. Here 52 new rental apartments will be built, within walking distance to the beach and close communications. Others attending the groundbreaking ceremony include Erik Andersson, chairman of the city planning committee, and Johan Skoglund, CEO and President at JM.

Hägernäs Strand has grown over the past few years with many tenant-owned apartments and will now have a new addition with JM's rental apartments. The project is part of the local plan for the area that the municipality adopted.

A total of four new apartment buildings will be built, including two with architecture reminiscent of the barracks associated with what was once the Hägernäs air wing. The apartments, which will feature 1 to 3 rooms with kitchen, will maintain a high standard including fully tiled bathrooms and parquet flooring in all rooms. All four houses will be built in accordance with JM's standard for low-energy houses. According to JM's calculations, energy consumption will be cut by about 35% compared with ordinary apartment buildings.

Occupancy is expected beginning in February 2010.
