JM builds waterfront homes in Täby Next to Hägernäsviken, on the old naval base area in Hägernäs, JM is now starting to build Hägernäs strand. JM is building a new area with about 600 homes along the waterfront in Täby, just north of Stockholm. Also planned are new workplaces, a promenade along the water's edge and a new restaurant with a landing stage for guests by the harbour square. The area already has two schools, a tennis hall, a sports complex with an ice hockey rink and a small shop. The area will be characterised by varying buildings designed by at least four different firms of architects. The public amenities in the area such as the promenade, harbour square, parks and streets will be of a very high standard. The present bathing facilities will be improved and extended. Buildings of cultural and historical value, including the unique seaplane hangar built at the end of the 1920s, will be preserved. The hangar will be refurbished and be given a new use as parking for local residents. Communications are excellent since the area is close to the E18 motorway to Roslagstull. A new footbridge will be built over the motorway to the nearby Roslagsbanan station. There are direct bus services to Täby Centrum and into Stockholm. In the first phase 40 apartments will be built in five small apartment blacks, known as the shore houses. The apartments will range in size from 88 to 114 sq.m. with an open plan design. The buildings are only some 50 metres from the water's edge. All the flats have a view as well as patios, balconies or terraces facing south and the water. The buildings, designed by architect Johan Nyrén, have three floors, a penthouse set back from the roof edge and rendered facades. The first phase will be ready for new residents in summer 2003 and the entire project is scheduled for completion in 2007. The order value is estimated at approximately SEK 140m.
