New detached homes in Sigtuna with a focus on light Up on Sjudarhöjden in Sigtuna JM has now started the first phase with 23 detached houses, out of a total of 81. The name of the property, Sjudargården, is derived from the saltpetre works built in the reign of king Johan III in the 16th century and which were a key part of gunpowder manufacture. The new streets in the area have been named after Johan III's wives, Katarina Jagellonika and Gunilla Bielke. Architect Karin Ahlzén has created three house types with rendered facades interspersed with wooden panels. The generous windows and light parquet floors give the interior of the houses a Nordic character where the focus is on light. The largest houses have a living area of 155 sq.m. and comprise 5 rooms and kitchen, and the smallest has 4 rooms and kitchen in a living area of 129 sq.m. All the houses are on two floors and have a built-on garage/store. The first phase will be ready for occupation in May and June 2003. The order value is approximately SEK 55m and the entire project is scheduled for completion in 2005.
