Nyréns arkitektkontor to move to JM's Barnängshuset property Nyréns arkitektkontor AB has signed a contract for new premises in the Barnängshuset building in Södermalm, Stockholm. The company has operated from premises at Ferkens gränd in Stockholm's Old Town since 1970, but in January 2003 the moving trucks will be heading for the Sofia block in Södermalm. Nyréns will be moving into an area totalling 1,700 sq.m. "It feels truly stimulating to have the renowned architect firm Nyréns as a tenant in Barnängshuset," comments Kjell Bergman, project manager at JM AB. "We feel that the building's unique qualities, with a ceiling height of five metres and an abundance of outside light, are especially suitable for creative companies such as architects." Erik Hovlin, CEO of Nyréns, comments: "Barnängshuset is a perfect match for our preferences. We have been looking for a long time for a good alternative to the Old Town, and we are now looking forward to developing our business and putting our ideas to work in our new, exciting offices." Like Nyréns, Barnängshuset has a rich history. Designed by architect Cyrillus Johansson, the building was constructed in 1917 by the building contractors Kreuger & Toll. During the first thirty years it was home to the textile company Stockholms Bommullspinneri o Vävferi AB, and later it was used by companies in the printing and publishing business. JM acquired the building in 1996, and in autumn 2001 work was begun on renovating and restoring the industrial building to its original style.
