Premiere for new neighborhood on Lidingö
Today the children at the preschool Kaninen will man the shovels to break ground for the Dalénum neighborhood on Lidingö. Here, close to the water, with a view of the entrance to Stockholm's harbor and just ten minutes from the city center, 1,000 homes will be built over the next ten years. Interest is extremely strong.
“Dalénum, with its waterfront location, exciting architecture, and proximity to the city center, will become one of the Stockholm region's most popular neighborhoods,” says Johan Skoglund, CEO at JM. “Dalénum will be one of JM’s flagship projects for many years to come.”
In the former AGA area on Lidingö, JM is planning 1,000 residential units, as well as workplaces. The first block is called Strandparken and is located in a park along the water. Here four buildings will be built, with 4-6 floors each and a total of 60 apartments. All buildings will be designed as low-energy homes. The architect is HMXW.
Customer interest for the new homes has been extremely strong. All apartments are expected to be reserved by JM's VIP customers before they are even released for sale to the general public. The first residents will move into the new buildings in the middle of 2012.
The project start was celebrated today with children from the "Kaninen" preschool, who together with Johan Skoglund, CEO at JM and Paul Lindquist, municipal executive board chairman of Lidingö, dug out a facade marker.
Dalénum in brief.
Dalénum’s more than century-long industrial history began with Gustav Dalén, whose company AGA placed the location on the map. Plans include a living neighborhood with housing, services, and job opportunities. Parts of the beautiful industrial architecture dating back to the 1910s will be retained. A walking trail will be built along the shoreline.
The area will include 220 rental apartments.
