John Mattson was awarded a land allocation from the City of Stockholm encompassing the Hjälpslaktaren 7 leasehold property in the expansive Slakthusområdet in Stockholm. John Mattson has also signed an agreement to develop and remain the long-term owner of the Hjälpslaktaren 2 leasehold property in the same block

At the start of 2021, John Mattson received a land allocation from the City of Stockholm encompassing the Hjälpslaktaren 7 leasehold property in the Slakthusområdet. The land allocation grants John Mattson exclusive rights for new construction on the leasehold in partnership with the City of Stockholm.

Moreover, John Mattson has signed agreements with its partner LaTERRE to remain as the owner of the Hjälpslaktaren 2 leasehold property and therefore, to develop a landmarked building.

The Hjälpslaktaren block is attractively located adjacent to the future Metro station entrance and park in the area. John Mattson plans to pursue a detailed development plan for the site to develop housing together with modern offices and commercial businesses to create a dynamic, walkable lifestyle encompassing a total lettable area of some 11,500 square metres. The new detailed development plan is expected to be adopted in 2024.

“As we are now increasing our presence in Slakthusområdet, we can take stronger overall approach to the development of the Hjälpslaktaren block. Slakthusområdet is an exciting area with substantial development potential and the project matches well with our growth strategy of expanding in the Stockholm region,” says Siv Malmgren, CEO of John Mattson.

Slakthusområdet is one of Stockholm’s larger development projects and is undergoing a transition from industrial area to urban city district. The development uses a sustainability approach and respects the area’s unique heritage. Culturally historical buildings will be preserved and developed together with thousands of new housing units and workplaces together with schools, cultural activities and services.
