John Woods Nurseries Celebrates Gold at HTA National Plant Show 2013
John Woods Nurseries is today celebrating yet another major honour after capturing a gold award at the prestigious HTA National Plant Show.
Physocarpus Amber Jubilee® ‘Jefam’ was awarded Gold in the ‘Hardy Plant Nursery Stock’ category at the annual horticultural showcase, which opened today at Stoneleigh Park in Coventry.
It is the latest accolade for the award winning Suffolk-based supplier of plants who have launched new products on their stand, which includes the award-winning Mattocks® Rose Cherry Girl, Physocarpus Amber Jubilee® ‘Jefam’ and Hydrangea Endless Summer® BloomStar. John Woods Nurseries will also be previewing its relaunched Mattocks in-store branding materials.
The Physocarpus Amber Jubilee® ‘Jefam’, is a new opulifolius variety, a seedling cross of ‘Diabolo’ x ‘Darts Gold’, selected by Rick Durand and Wilbert Ronald of Jeffries Nurseries, Canada. The foliage is a kaleidoscopic blend of colours and the new growth takes on shades of yellow and orange before maturing to lime-green and turning purple in autumn. John Woods Nurseries is the only UK licensed grower.
This plant was named in honour of the Queens visit to Manitoba, Canada in July 2010. This fully hardy plant is best in full sun. It is easy to care for and can be trimmed to shape in spring which will also improve foliage colour.
John Lord, Managing Director of John Woods Nurseries, said: “It is great news that this fantastic new plant is being recognised in this way. The Physocarpus Amber Jubilee® ‘Jefam’, has been generating huge interest at the show on our stand.”
John Woods Nurseries is an historic brand stretching 175 years. The company’s product range extends to 1,500 lines in a range of sizes across shrubs, perennials, roses, ericaceous plants, climbers, trees and fruit. More than 1.3 million units are produced annually.
